Court appearance to go thanks

One of the recurring features of the taking of the swally is the ability to Do Something Stupid. The part of the human brain that runs the reason/sense/logic part appears to shut down when enough alcohol is drunk.

A UK teenager at a barbecue phoned the White House in America and told them there was a bomb in New York. The seventeen year old was charged, pleaded guilty and is now awaiting sentencing.

It's a sign that the olden days of pranks being pranks and being laughed off are now long gone.

The Groom's Toast

Weddings should be a place of celebration and a convivial atmosphere. Yes there can be the occasional fight but most weddings pass off without incident bar a drunken Auntie's showing of her bloomer on the dance floor or a teen guest having his first kiss with a second cousin.

As you'd expect death is not associated with weddings and when it is, it's especially tragic. When it's one of the wedding party, it's doubly tragic. A Taiwanese groom drank too much at his own wedding and died the night of the wedding.

What is French for "easy done?"

Those who drink are well aware of the hazards. Apart from the long-term health impact there is the more immediate one of what happens while you are under the influence. Most involve a bump or a bruise, or a dropped fish supper.

Two British tourists in France seem to have joined the ranks of those who didn't make it safely home.

Too Drunk To Board

A goalkeeper was refused boarding onto an aircraft as staff said he was too drunk. Hibs new Polish goalise "could barely stand up and was lurching all over the place."

Makes a change from the pilots, eh, readers.

A Bridge Too Drunk

A man who took a taxi to the Forth Road Bridge in order to climb its 360 feet towers admitted he had a drink problem. No shit, Sherlock.

It takes some people Dutch courage to drive over it, never mind scale its grey support towers.

Where's Mitch Buchannon when you need him?

There's many things swally doesn't mix well with: driving, flying, working, etc. Another is swimming.

Some drunken bathers got into trouble off an Indian beach and had to be rescued by lifeguards. One of whom was then punched by the rescued man.
